Yuzvendra Chahal lauded Wanindu Hasaranga of Royal Challengers Bangalore after the Sri Lankan spinner’s brilliant spell prompted a batting collapse, with Kolkata Knight Riders bowled out for a below-par score in an IPL 2022 match in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Hasaranga bowled his entire four-over quota and concluded with four wickets and only 20 runs conceded.
At DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai, Royal Challengers Bangalore opened their account on the points table with a nail-biting 3-wicket triumph over Kolkata Knight Riders in the final over of the match. Dinesh Karthik finished off an exciting low-scoring game with a six and a four in Andre Russell’s over to get the RCB’s campaign back on track. The RCB batsmen did not have a stellar batting performance in the 129-run chase, but they still managed to win.
Yuzvendra Chahal Calls Wanindu Hasaranga Champion

Prior to the season, RCB spent INR 10.75 crore to bring in Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga to their roster. The leggie failed to replicate his brilliance against Punjab Kings in the first match, but he rebounded back wonderfully against KKR with a four-wicket haul to claim the Purple Cap. Shreyas Iyer, Sheldon Jackson, Sunil Narine, and Tim Southee were among the wickets he took in the vital match. RCB will want him to keep up his good form in the competition.

Yuzvendra Chahal was really pleased with Hasaranga’s performance. The Rajasthan Royals’ spinner poured accolades on Hasaranga for his outstanding bowling performance.
Chahal, the former RCB star who was let go despite an impressive record with the club, remarked on Twitter, “Wanindu Hasaranga champion,” and his tweet instantly went viral.

Chahal previously said that RCB notified him in advance that he would not be retained, but that the franchise would bid on him at the auction.
“The reality is that Mike Hesson called me and said ‘Listen Yuzi, there are three retentions.’ They didn’t ask me whether I wanted to be retained or tell me if they wanted to retain me. They just talked about the three retentions and I was told that – ‘we will go for you in the auction’,” Chahal said.
