Rain forced the cancellation of the fifth T20I between India and South Africa in Bengaluru on Sunday. India had managed to post 28/2 in only 3.3 overs. More than the cricket action, however, it was an incident involving Ruturaj Gaikwad that drew the attention of the public, and netizens were outraged.
Ruturaj Gaikwad pushes away groundsman trying to take a selfie with him

Rain spoiled the fifth and final T20I of the series in Bengaluru, leaving the series tied at 2-2. As a result, India and South Africa shared the trophy, with the visitors maintaining their unbeaten record in India in white-ball format.
More than the drawn T20I and the disappointment of missing out on what could have been a fitting series decider at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, Twitter was enraged by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s “mistreating” and “disrespecting” of a groundsman during the match.

On Sunday, a video of the young India opener denying a selfie to the groundsman went viral on social media. Gaikwad was sitting in the dugout, waiting for the rain to stop when the video was taken. Before the broadcast was cut, the youngster was seen asking the groundsman to keep some space.
Earlier, South Africa stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj won the toss and chose to bowl first after Temba Bavuma was ruled out with an elbow injury in the fourth T20I. South Africa made only one change to their starting lineup, with Reeza Hendricks replacing Bavuma at the top. While Tabraiz Shamsi and Marco Jansen were replaced by Tristan Stubbs and Kagiso Rabada.
After winning the toss for the fifth time in the series and opting to bowl first, South Africa bowled 21 deliveries in the rain-soaked match. The match had been reduced to 19 overs due to the first round of rain.

Ishan Kishan got off to a flying start, clobbering Keshav Maharaj for two sixes in the first over, only to be overshadowed by a slower over from Lungi Ngidi in the next.
Gaikwad then went after Rabada, smashing him for a boundary through mid-wicket, but Ngidi got the better of him in the penultimate delivery, and it began to rain in Bengaluru once more. Gaikwad only managed to score 10 runs in the game.
