Gujarat Titans director of cricket Vikram Solanki has retaliated against a journalist who inquired about opener Shubman Gill’s inconsistent season. Solanki, a former England international who is now the Gujarat franchise’s acting Director of Cricket, was taken aback and fired back at the journalist, saying he doesn’t agree with his ‘assertion.’
Vikram Solanki on Shubman Gill’s form

Vikram Solanki was not pleased after one of the journalists questioned opener Shubman Gill’s poor performance in the ongoing IPL season.
After being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders, Gill was bought by GT ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. He had a slow start to the season, but he made up for it by playing some beautiful knocks for the team and assisting in their victory. Gill has scored 403 runs at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 133.89 in 14 league matches, which is a respectable effort.
“Dekhiye apne jo sawal kiya isse hum to disagree karenge. (I don’t agree with your question.) The partnership that Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha have forged, all were very good partnerships. And whatever you are saying about Shubman Gill, this is incorrect,” Solanki said.
Gill has continued to be an important part of the team and has recently batted in the top order alongside Wriddhiman Saha. This season, he has four half-centuries and a personal best of 59 runs in 59 balls against the Delhi Capitals.

“Shubman Gill has played a number of match-winning knocks. For instance, against LSG. The way he handled his innings and gave us a chance, I am entitled to disagreement with your assertion. As far as our opening partnership is concerned, Wriddhi Bhai (Wriddhiman Saha) and Shubman Gill are an ideal combination. They complement each other in the style of play. And having Wriddhiman around Shubman is great as they can communicate better and it bodes well for our team,” Solanki added.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya was praised by Solanki as a great communicator. He claimed that Pandya, the captain, has a bond with his players, which is resulting in success. GT has made history by becoming the first team to make the playoffs. In Qualifier 1, they will face Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
