In the game between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, Lalit Yadav was run out by the other team in an unorthodox method. Vijay Shankar received Abhinav Manohar’s throw while heading for the second run, and he dislodged the bails before Lalit could cross the crease.
Delhi Capitals were chasing a target of 172 in a game against Gujarat Titans after winning their first game against Mumbai Indians. GT batted first and amassed a total of 171/6 thanks to Shubman Gill’s 84-run effort.
The Capitals’ hunt for 172 points got off to a promising start when Prithvi Shaw hit Mohammed Shami beyond backward point for four runs. DC’s enthusiasm was short-lived, as they lost their top three players inside the powerplay overs.
Hardik Pandya, the Titans’ captain, set the tone early by taking the new ball with Shami and bowling opener Tim Seifert. Ferguson then dismissed Shaw and Mandeep Singh with his blistering pace in his fifth over.
Vijay Shankar runs out Lalit Yadav

Vijay Shankar was bowling in the 12th over. Pant faced the fourth ball of the over, which he worked on the leg-side. Abhinav Manohar was quick to catch Lalit Yadav short of the crease when he was seen straining. He lobbed the ball towards the bowler’s end, and Vijay Shankar collected and dislodged the bails with ease. The decision was deferred to third umpire.

Surprisingly, replays revealed that Shankar’s foot dislodged one bail but left the second bail intact on the stumps. The batsman was out when he hit the stumps and was sent back to the pavilion.

In their first IPL season, the Titans have now won both of their games. Hardik Pandya, the captain, too had a good game, scoring 31 runs and grabbing a wicket for the first time in a long time. That, too, came on his first over of the game.
Shubman needs a strong IPL season to help him return to Team India, especially with the T20 World Cup coming up in October. Shubman’s IPL debut was a disaster, as he went for naught in the Titans’ first game. But the 22-year-old quickly made amends, putting up a far better performance on Saturday.
