Venkatesh Iyer is the most recent addition to India’s ever-growing roster of prodigy batsmen. No one knew about this talented batsman before the start of the second half of the IPL 2021 season, but since his arrival, he has taken the IPL by storm, and everyone is asking where he was hiding before.
Iyer is not a new name on the Indian domestic circuit; he has been playing for Madhya Pradesh for the past six years and was always on the radar of several franchises until Kolkata Knight Riders finally got him for the base price of 20 lakhs in 2021.
Venkatesh Iyer – Early Life

Venkatesh Iyer, an Indore native, was a talented student who was enthusiastic about his studies. He has a supportive family that saw his talent and, in particular, his mother, who urged him to play cricket. The 26-year-old must be pleased with his mother’s decision, given he has had a great start with KKR. His mother pushed him to go out because he was a bookworm and used to play for fun.
As a student, Iyer is more self-assured than a cricketer. He claimed that he has always been a good student due to his strong grasping abilities.
Iyer was always preoccupied with his studies, and he did not begin playing cricket seriously until he was 19 years old. He enrolled in a B.Com and a CA program. In 2016, he passed the CA intermediate examinations. But he needed to make a difficult choice. He would be unable to play cricket for a long period if he attempted the CA final exam.
He chose to continue with cricket and abandoned his CA preparations. Instead, he pursued an MBA in finance and was accepted into a respectable college where his professors enjoyed cricket. They made up for his lack of attendance by encouraging him to play.
Career

Venkatesh made his Madhya Pradesh Twenty20 debut against Railways in March 2015. In his debut match, he was quite appealing. In December 2015, he made his List A debut against the Saurashtra Cricket team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium. In this match, Venkatesh performed incredibly well.
After three years of struggle, he was given the opportunity to play red-ball cricket against Hyderabad. On December 6, 2018, he made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Venkatesh was not given the chance to bat.
He scored a lot of runs in only five matches in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021, he scored a lot of runs, making it his greatest performance.
In the Indian Premier League auctions in February 2021, he was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders.
During the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021, he was instrumental for KKR. Iyer went after the bowlers from the outset, and his outstanding performance earned him a spot in Team India’s T20I squad for the series against New Zealand.
