Asian teams, particularly in Test cricket, flourish on Sub-continent surfaces. They’re in terrific shape thanks to the spin-friendly circumstances. However, playing in SENA countries has proven to be their greatest obstacle throughout the years.
The Indian team made history when they won back-to-back series in Australia. Asian countries have a dreadful record against SENA countries throughout Test cricket history. Winning a Test match is difficult enough, much alone a series in another country. In SENA countries, Asian countries haven’t won many Test matches. India captain Virat Kohli has become the Asian captain with the most wins (6) in SENA countries after winning the 4th against England on Monday
1. Virat Kohli – 6
Virat Kohli currently leads the record of Asian captains with the most Test wins in SENA nations, following India’s latest Test victory against England. There’s no doubting that Virat Kohli has turned India’s Test team into a formidable opponent. Unlike in the early 1990s, India now has a formidable fast-bowling squad, which is assisting the Men in Blue in achieving success in foreign circumstances. The lone active cricketer on the list is Virat Kohli. India has won five Test matches in SENA countries thus far.
2. MS Dhoni – 3
MS Dhoni has captained India in the most Tests (60), yet India has only won three times in the SENA countries during his leadership. MS Dhoni is widely regarded as India’s most successful captain in history. He guided India to all three ICC trophies: the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, the ICC World Cup in 2011, and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. However, he did not have the same success in the game’s longest format. During his career, MS Dhoni captained the Indian cricket team in 60 Tests. He was able to win three Tests in SENA countries out of those.
3. Nawab Pataudi Jr – 2
Nawab Pataudi Jr. led India to 40 Test victories, including three in New Zealand. When India visited New Zealand for a Test series in 1967/68, they got off to a good start by defeating the Kiwis by five wickets. India lost the second Test but won the third one with a vengeance. India cruised to an eight-wicket victory in the third Test. India had taken a 2-1 lead in the four-match series and went on to win the fourth Test by 272 runs, giving them a 3-1 series victory.
4. Bishan Singh Bedi – 2
Bishan Singh Bedi led India to 22 Test victories, and two of those victories, like Rahul Dravid’s, occurred beyond the subcontinent in Australia. Both of these victories are notable since they were the first time India won a Test match in Australia. In 1977/78, India had a poor start to the trip, losing the first two Tests. However, they made a great recovery in the third match, defeating Australia by 222 runs at the MCG. India had defeated Australia in Australia for the first time, which was a significant accomplishment. India’s winning streak continued in the second Test, which they won by an innings and two runs in Sydney.
5. Rahul Dravid – 2
Rahul Dravid led India to triumph in two SENA countries while captaining the team in 25 Test matches. The first victory came in South Africa in 2006, when S Sreesanth was outstanding with the ball, taking eight wickets in the game to help India win by 123 runs at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. India enjoyed a great visit to England in 2007, winning the second Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. India won the game by seven wickets, with Zaheer Khan taking nine wickets and the majority of the batsmen scoring runs. The first and third Test matches of the series were both drawn, giving India a Test series victory in England.
