Dinesh Lad, the coach of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, stated that if India is to win global events like as the World Cup, they must consider workload management.
The coach, who is based in Mumbai, believes that there should be no exceptions made for important players missing international games.
Dinesh Lad on Team India’s workload management

In his professional life, Rohit Sharma is experiencing a rough spell. The captain of Team India appeared rusty throughout the recently finished T20I World Cup. He has drawn criticism for India’s elimination from the T20I World Cup 2022 semi-finals. Even Sharma’s coach, Dinesh Lad, took a shot at the Indian skipper in a furious message to Team India. Star cricketers shouldn’t skip international games, according to Lad.
According to Rohit Sharma’s coach, the squad has not been stable over the past seven months because the openers and even the main bowlers keep switching. Lad has a different take on the team management’s rotation policy. He also criticized players for playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) rather than sitting out the competition to rest themselves for the international games.
“I thought, maybe, in the last seven-eight months, we are not a stable team. If we are preparing for the World Cup, it should be an established team. In the last seven months, somebody is coming to open the innings, somebody is coming to bowl, there is no stability,” Dinesh Lad said to Sportskeeda.

“I don’t think so (on workload management as a potential reason). Everybody in the world is playing because they are professionals, not a workload you can say. Why are they playing in the IPL? Don’t play the IPL if you want to win the World Cup. In actual professional grades, they should play every game (at the international level) because we are getting something from that. It’s not an honorary job and there should be no compromise in international cricket,” he added.
Dinesh Lad does not want the players to cancel their IPL contracts. However, throughout the interview, he emphasized the importance of international cricket and how it benefits IPL cricketers.
“How can I say this (whether players should drop their IPL contracts)? They will have to take a call on that. Because you have been playing for India and for your states continuously that’s why you are considered for the IPL. Your international performance helps you determine your salary cap (in the IPL). So directly you don’t get an entry into the IPL,” he further added.
