Faf du Plessis, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been named captain of the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 league, which will begin in January. Along with unveiling the team’s logo, the franchise, which is owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), also announced the hiring of Stephen Fleming as head coach.
Prior to the SA20 Player Auction 2022, Faf du Plessis recently discussed the team’s auction strategy.

In addition to Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana (both of whom played for CSK in IPL 2022), Romario Shepherd, and uncapped fast bowler Gerald Coetzee, the franchise chose Du Plessis as one of its five direct signings.
On Monday, the first SA20 Auction will take place. Before the action began, various questions were put to Du Plessis in a video that JSK posted on Twitter. One of them concerned his prospective opening partner for the brand-new league.
“It is not always simple. We have got three or four different opening partners and combinations ready to lock in. Hopefully, one of those will come through. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until after the auction to see exactly who that guy is, but there are some really good options,” Du Plessis said.
“It’s been really exciting. We’ve had some good conversations in the last week, trying to make sure that we have got every angle covered for the auction. It is always a tricky one because you are not sure what you are going to get but try and plan for a few options,” he added.
The captain of the Joburg Super Kings mentioned that he is currently playing for the St. Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League in the West Indies. He had to communicate frequently with the JSK representatives in South Africa due to the time zone difference.
