Since the start of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings have become the undisputed champions of excellence. The team has advanced to the finals seven times and has won three times.
1. Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina, a tenacious player, holds the record for the most runs scored by any player for the Chennai-based IPL franchise. Chinna Thala is the first CSK player to reach the milestone of 4000 runs in IPL. He was the backbone of Chennai’s batting for over a decade and won a lot of games single-handedly. The left-hander is one of the five batsmen in the history of IPL to reach the landmark of 5000 runs in IPL. He had the throne of being the highest scorer in IPL for a long period of time till Virat Kohli recently overtook him. He has scored 5492 runs for Chennai Super Kings.
2. MS Dhoni
The other dependable figure for Chennai Super Kings in the middle order has been Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The side bought him in the 2008 IPL auction with a vision for a leader and paired him along with Suresh Raina. Both have been with the side since day 1 and have spent about twice as much time in the center with CSK as anybody else. One of the key reasons the squad was able to cross the finish line was his relaxed demeanor. Though, his finishing skills have diminished in the past few years, MS Dhoni still remains one of the most dangerous players in the history of IPL. He has managed to score 4544 runs for Chennai Super Kings.
3.Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis, a South African batsman who joined CSK in 2012, has developed into one of the team’s most valuable batsmen over the years. His ability to serve as an anchor and allow other batsmen to play their natural game has helped him develop himself as one of the Chennai Super Kings’ most important players. The team management has used him in several slot and the player has responded perfectly to all the responsibilities. The former South Aftican skipper has bagged 2619 runs in 90 games for Chennai Super Kings.
Hussey was a key member of the CSK team in its early years, and he was one of the league’s most prolific batsmen before his departure in 2015. 2013 was a standout edition for the Australian when he bagged the orange cap after scoring a staggering 733 runs in the season. The player managed to score 2213 runs in his spell with the Chennai Super Kings. He represented the side in 64 games.
5. Murali Vijay:
Murali Vijay, a Tamil Nadu native, is ranked fifth in the list of highest run scorers for Chennai Super Kings. He’s been responsible for a number of explosive starts at the top of the order. He is the third CSK batsman to score two centuries in the IPL, joining Raina and Shane Watson. Murali Vijay is one of the most underrated players to have represented the Chennai side. He managed to score 2205 runs in 89 innings for the side. Murali Vijay played several memorable innings and led the side to countless victories.
