On May 3, Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Shubman Gill was caught short of his ground and was run out in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 group stage match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). GT captain Hardik Pandya chose to bat first after winning the toss at the Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
His decision, however, quickly backfired. The GT openers got off to a slow start, scoring 17/0 in just two overs. Gill had already drawn two lines in the sand as he tried to settle in.
Gill, on the other hand, dipped pacer Sandeep Sharma’s ball towards the cover region and went for a run in the third over of the first innings. Gill was caught short of his ground by all-rounder Rishi Dhawan’s brilliant fielding.
Shubman Gill annoyed with Punjab bowler Sandeep Sharma after run-out

After being run out by a crisp Rishi Dhawan throw in match 48 of the IPL 2022 at Mumbai’s Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy on Tuesday, Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill was irritated with Punjab Kings pacer Sandeep Sharma.
Shubman Gill tapped the ball towards short extra cover and dashed across to the other end of the field in the third over of the contest. Rishi Dhawan took the ball and smashed it straight into the stumps at the non-striker’s end. He had to walk back because Gill was nowhere to be found.
Gill turned to face the bowler after being dismissed. He was irritated because he assumed Sandeep had gotten in the way and forced him to go past him, but Sandeep didn’t move at all in his follow-through, he was simply standing his ground, so he wasn’t to blame. The single was a bad choice. He simply took off after knocking this full ball to cover.

Shubman Gill has gotten several starts thus far in the competition, but he hasn’t been able to regularly convert them into significant ones. In the final two games, he played a key role in assisting GT in getting off to a strong start in both of their run chases, which they eventually won.
