PIL in Orissa HC seeking cancellation of India-South Africa T20 match

Shocking news has emerged from Orissa, which will host the second T20I match between the two sides on June 12.
The upcoming India-South Africa T20I series will be played in front of sold-out crowds in stadiums across the country, with no bio-bubbles used, though players will be tested before each match and at regular intervals.
The first T20I will be played on June 9 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the second T20I on June 12 at Barabati Stadium in Orissa, and the third T20I on June 14 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the fourth ODI on June 17 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, and the fifth and final T20I on June 19 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. At 7 p.m. IST, all five T20I matches will begin.
According to reports, Sanjay Nayak of the Bhuban area of the Dhenkanal district has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, alleging that the Barabati Stadium is lacking in fire safety measures. The stadium can hold 45,000 spectators.
The petitioner has asked the court to order the match to be called off. In this case, the petitioner has named the Odisha government, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), and 12 others as parties.

Aside from that, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) recently requested a report from concerned authorities about the fire safety procedures at the Barabati Stadium in response to a petition filed by Nishikanta Mishra. The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and the Cuttack DCP had received notice from the commission.
As a result, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera has stated that adequate fire safety arrangements will be made at the stadium in order to avoid any unfortunate events occurring during the international match.
