Sakibul Gani of Bihar made history at the Jadavpur University Second Campus ground in Salt Lake, Kolkata. On his first-class debut, he became the first cricketer to score a triple century.
Gani, who batted at no. 5, scored 341 off 405 balls, including 56 fours and two sixes, and did so at an impressive strike rate of 84.20.
On Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy plate group match, Gani and Babul Kumar put on a mammoth partnership of 539 runs for Bihar against Mizoram. This was also the first 500-plus stand involving a debutant player in first-class cricket history. Their partnership is now the third-highest in first-class cricket, trailing only 577 (Vijay Hazare/Gul Mohd for Baroda vs Holkar in 1947) and 574* (CL Walcott/FMM Worrell for Barbados vs Trinidad in 1945/46).
Babul scored an unbeaten 229 off 398 balls with 27 fours and a six, and he and Gani added 399 runs for the fourth wicket, the second-highest fourth-wicket partnership in Ranji Trophy history.
Early Life

Sakibul Gani was born in Motihari, Bihar, India on September 2, 1999. Gani will be 22 years old in 2022. He attended a private high school and attended college in his hometown. In February 2022, Sakibul became the first cricketer to score a triple century on debut in a first-class match.
“He comes from a very humble background in Bihar. He is a local lad and a very talented cricketer. People are noticing him now but he did well in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Before throwing him straight into Ranji Trophy, we had sent him to play some cricket in Mumbai where he was impressive too. We have no doubt about his talent,” Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma said.
Career Start

He made his List A debut in October 2019 for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 against Jammu and Kashmir, scoring 29 runs and taking one wicket, and he made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020-21. He can also bowl medium pace and bat in the top order.
