Today at 9:30 am IST in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh got underway. Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh are the finalists and both have played superb cricket so far to reach the final.
Mumbai, who has won the trophy 41 times, are competing against MP in their first final since 1998–1999 this weekend. MP won their group without losing a game, then defeated Bengal and Punjab in the quarterfinals and semifinals to guarantee a spot in the championship match.
Mumbai experienced a very comparable journey, finishing first in their group with two victories and a draw. They then defeated Uttarakhand by an enormous margin of 725 runs in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals, where they managed to draw with UP but prevailed due to an advantage in the first innings.
Crowd chants RCB RCB during the Ranji Trophy final at the Chinnaswamy Stadium
Mumbai chose to bat first after winning the toss. As he began his innings with the in-form left-handed prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw appeared stable and began making good contact with the ball. Shaw and Jaiswal came into the first session looking fairly assured as they both took the initiative and established Mumbai’s first partnership.

Unfortunately, Shaw, who was on the verge of reaching his half-century, was bowled by Anubhav Agarwal before he could reach the mark. Jaiswal, on the other hand, remained resolute in taking the lead and scoring a brilliant 78 off 163 deliveries, which included 7 fours and a six.
The loud chant “RCB, RCB” could be heard during the game from the crowd in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. As Madhya Pradesh player Rajat Patidar was spotted on the field, the crowd went absolutely crazy. The Royal Challengers Bangalore team includes Rajat Patidar, who is presently playing for Madhya Pradesh. In the recently concluded IPL, Rajat Patidar provided RCB with one of their best performances.

Wishing our #3, Rajat Patidar, all the best for the Ranji Trophy final against Mumbai. 🙌
Finish the tournament on a high, Rajat. 💪#PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #ನಮ್ಮRCB #RanjiTrophy2022 pic.twitter.com/myYPgaGKYK
