The two-day IPL 2022 mega auctions, which will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, will be one of the most exciting events of the year. A total of 590 cricketers will be auctioned off ahead of the Indian Premier League’s 15th season. A total of 370 Indians and 220 international players are on the list, all of whom will be hoping for high bids.
The retentions, followed by the two new franchises’ draught signings, have taken a significant chunk of talent out of the bidding war, but that doesn’t mean the IPL 2022 Mega Auction will be short on action.
- Quinton de Kock
For cricket fans, the 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman needs no introduction. His outstanding performance against India in both the test and three-match ODI series will undoubtedly lead to a bidding war for him. He has 229 runs in three matches, including a stunning 78 in the second ODI and a brilliant 124 in the final ODI. De Kock didn’t have the best IPL 2021 season, but he smashed 503 runs in MI’s successful IPL 2020 campaign, averaging 35.92 and striking at 140.50.

- Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan is currently a hot topic in the most prestigious ranks of Indian cricket. More importantly, he thrives in a high-pressure environment. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has been in outstanding form in recent years. He scored 241 runs in ten innings in the IPL 2021, averaging 26.77. Teams will go all out to buy this youngster at the auction, and there will undoubtedly be a bidding war for him.

- David Warner
David Warner was expected to be snapped up by one of the two new franchises in the pre-auction signing phase after a contentious split with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, with that unlikely to happen, the explosive Australian left-hander will now be auctioned off in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Warner remains a legend of the league, despite a poor IPL 2021, with 5,449 runs in 150 matches at an average of 41.59 and a strike rate of 139.96. Warner’s reflexes have slowed a little, but that shouldn’t stop a bidding war for him at the mega auctions.

- Shreyas Iyer
In the Mega Auction, Shreyas Iyer will almost certainly be the subject of a bidding war. Iyer is not only one of India’s most dependable middle-order batsmen, but he also has extensive captaincy experience, having led the Delhi Capitals (DC) for three seasons in the league. In fact, it was under his leadership that the Delhi-based franchise made it to the IPL final for the first time (in 2020).

- Ben McDermott
Australian middle-order batsman Ben McDermott is a fantastic player. McDermott has the most runs scored in the BBL this season. With a strike rate of 153.87 and an average of 48.08, he scored 577 runs in 13 games for the Hobart Hurricanes. McDermott has never played in the IPL before. He is expected to sign his first contract in the Indian Premier League this season, based on his performance in the Big Bash League. McDermott can bat in the middle of the order and run quickly in the last few overs. All franchises in the auction could be interested in him.
