CSK made a rousing comeback in the 2021 edition of the tournament after a forgettable season in 2020. In both legs of the tournament, the Men in Yellow were nothing short of outstanding. They won 9 of their 14 games and finished the league stage in second place on the points table. CSK continued their impressive knockout run and won their fourth IPL title.
CSK‘s strategy in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction will be interesting to watch ahead of their quest to match Mumbai Indians’ five IPL titles. With Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and skipper MS Dhoni, they already have a solid core, and they will have a clear idea of their ideal squad.
- Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada, a decorated pacer from South Africa, is one of the most dangerous pacers in the modern era. Rabada was outstanding for his previous franchise, the Delhi Capitals (DC), where he was the most economic pacer. In 2020, the speedster helped DC reach its first IPL final. With 30 wickets in 17 matches, he was the leading wicket-taker in that season. He brushed aside Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Rashid Khan, all of whom have been regulars on that list. In the IPL 2022, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would love to have KG Rabada’s services.

- Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan is someone who can be a great complement to Ruturaj Gaikwad. The duo has the potential to be a great opening pair for CSK in the future. The right-left combination would be beneficial to the team. Ishan Kishan can be a great company to have, especially since Gaikwad takes a while to switch gears. He’s the type of player who can start hitting from the get-go.

- Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi, a former batsman for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will be an appealing option for the four-time IPL champions. Tripathi, who batted in the middle order, was instrumental in KKR’s turnaround in the recent IPL 2021. He took it upon himself to protect the team after the openers were dismissed early, and he was mostly successful in doing so. In 16 IPL 2021 innings, he scored 397 runs at a respectable average of 28.35.

- Deepak Chahar
The master of the powerplay, Deepak Chahar has been an integral part of CSK’s squad over the years, and given how well he is batting for India, his value is still undeniable. CSK has been well-run for a number of years, and the IPL 2022 Mega Auction should see more of the same. Chahar can form a strong core, with Jadeja and Moeen providing batting and spin capabilities, respectively.

- Trent Boult
In the last two editions of the tournament, Trent Boult has bowled exceptionally well for Mumbai Indians. He took the second-most wickets for the franchise in his first season with them. In the India leg of the IPL 2021, Boult continued his outstanding performance. In the second leg of the tournament, however, he lost his accuracy. CSK are expected to spend a significant amount of money on Boult, who is currently one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
