Many cricket fans are looking forward to the mega auctions as the 2022 IPL season approaches. A period during which each team tries to add the best players to their roster in order to win the prestigious IPL title.
The IPL 2022 will feature ten teams, thanks to the addition of two new franchises to the world’s most popular franchise T20 league. In the next edition of the Indian Premier League, two new franchises will be added: Lucknow Supergiants and Ahmedabad Titans. CVC Capital Partners owns the Ahmedabad franchise, while the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group owns the Lucknow franchise.
- David Warner
In the IPL 2022, franchises will be able to choose and nominate David Warner as their captain. After the IPL 2021 season, Warner said his goodbyes to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Many franchises will be vying for the services of Australia’s David Warner, who will be up for grabs. Warner has a lot of experience as the captain of the SRH in the IPL and would be a good captain for any team.
- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer was unable to play the second half of the 2021 edition due to a severe shoulder injury, and Rishabh Pant assumed command of the Delhi Capitals. Given his proven credentials as the skipper of the Delhi Capitals during IPL 2019 and 2020, Iyer is expected to be one of the most expensive buys in the auction. He led the Capitals to the playoffs in the 2019 season, and a year later, he made his first IPL final appearance for the franchise.
- Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan has been an outstanding batsman for DC and has played a key role in their IPL success last season. Although he has not captained an IPL team since 2014, he is capable of doing so for a new IPL team. Shikhar was not retained, and he will be pursued by a number of teams. Both as a batsman and as a captain, he has the potential to be extremely valuable.
- Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia’s national white-ball team, is a batsman who has never disappointed the cricketing world. His captaincy, in addition to his batsmanship, is a highlight for him. In the recently concluded 2021 edition, his captaincy led Australia to their first T20 World Cup victory. His captaincy appears promising for many, as he was the winning captain of the 2021 WT20 edition.
- Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock will be available in the marquee list with a base price of 2 Crores in the mega auction for IPL 2022. Quinton de Kock fired at all cylinders in the recent ODI series against India and he has been in terrific form the last few seasons of IPL. The South African left-hander has recently announced his retirement from the longer format and he will be available for the entire season which makes him one of the exciting options in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He is also an interesting captaincy option and many teams will be interested in him.
