Former India selector MSK Prasad believes that former India captain Virat Kohli will perform exceptionally well for the team in the upcoming World Test Championship Final 2023. India is scheduled to face Australia in this highly anticipated pinnacle clash, commencing on June 7. The match will be held at the Kia Oval, and both star-studded teams will vie for the prestigious WTC title.
Following his struggles in the previous edition of the final against New Zealand, Kohli managed to overcome his prolonged poor form in August 2022 during the Asia Cup. Since finding his rhythm in the T20 format during the Asia Cup, Kohli has ended his century drought in all formats of the game and has also performed well in the Indian Premier League 2023. Having already traveled to England, the former captain is currently acclimatizing to the conditions in preparation for the upcoming match.
MSK Prasad on Virat Kohli

“He did not have a very great 2021-22. But that is because we expect a lot from him. He has set a very high standard for himself. He has to score hundreds in every match, otherwise, it is a failure. But he is a human after all,” MSK Prasad said.
Prasad commented that Kohli’s performance in the international arena was adversely affected by the pressure of captaincy.
“The captaincy pressure had him struggling for a while, but once he regained his rhythm and clarity, he did not look back. He has been in amazing form since last year’s Asia Cup, and has made centuries in all formats,” Prasad added.

According to the former India selector, there is a strong belief that Kohli will be highly motivated for the WTC Final and can be relied upon to perform exceptionally well for the Indian team.
“He must be having in his mind that India has not won an ICC tournament for years and must be fired up to give his best to help India win. With his form, state of mind in a good place and his seniority being above 100 Tests, I am sure he will deliver in the WTC final,” he added.
