On Day 2 of the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction, Mumbai Indians (MI) bought England fast bowler Jofra Archer for INR 8 crores. Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Akash Ambani has confirmed that England fast bowler Jofra Archer will not play in the IPL 2022 edition, despite the franchise spending a lot of money to get him in the Mega Auction.
Archer, who is recovering from elbow surgery to address a persistent issue that caused him to miss the T20 World Cup 2021 and the Ashes 2021-22 in Australia, was also unable to participate in the IPL 2021 as well.
Jofra Archer at the Mega Auction

Mumbai Indians paid Rs 8 crore for Jofra Archer, who had a base price of Rs 2 crore.
In the mega auction, the Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians were the teams most interested in Jofra Archer’s services. The English pacer is returning from a lengthy injury layoff, but that didn’t stop Sunrisers Hyderabad from bidding. Mumbai, on the other hand, managed to get him in the end.
Jofra Archer Will Be Unavailable for IPL 2022

The Indian Premier League (IPL) officials had already informed the ECB that Archer was “unlikely” to play in IPL 2022 and that if any franchise picks him and he does not show up, they will be unable to find a replacement. With the England and Wales Cricket Board expecting Jofra to return in June, there’s a chance he’ll be a regular in the Test squad once he’s fit.
Nonetheless, when his name appeared in the mega auction process on day two of the IPL 2022 auction, the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals engaged in a bidding war for the England pacer, with the five-time IPL champions emerging victorious with a bid of INR 8.00 crores.

βJofra Archer was a player to who Mahela gave his first professional debut to. Weβve been thinking about it ever since. This year, he wonβt be with us, but next year, Jofra and Boom will be great togetherβ, MI owner Akash Ambani said.
Jofra Archer has 46 wickets in 35 IPL games, with a best of 3/15 and a 7.13 economy rate.
