The 2023 edition of IPL is scheduled to commence on March 31, 2023, with an intense match-up between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With IPL 2023 fast approaching, several franchises have expressed their disappointment at having missed out on some key players. Here is a team lineup that includes top players who are currently unavailable:
1. Alex Hales

Alex Hales, the English cricketer who played a crucial role in their T20 World Cup 2022 win, has decided not to participate in IPL 2023 due to workload concerns. Kolkata Knight Riders had acquired him in the 2022 IPL auction held in February.
2. Jason Roy

Jason Roy has been an outstanding performer for England in limited-overs cricket, and has played a key role in their recent success in the format. However, he went unsold in the IPL 2023 auction, possibly due to the fact that he had withdrawn himself from the tournament in 2022 after being signed by Gujarat Titans.
3. Steve Smith

Steve Smith, the former Australian cricket captain who is renowned for his impressive consistency in Test cricket as well as his notable performances in limited-overs cricket, has decided to skip the T20 league this year and did not put his name forward for the IPL 2023 auction.
4. Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie van der Dussen did not find any takers in the IPL 2023 auction. He had previously played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, but the franchise had let him go prior to the auction for the 2023 season. In the 2022 tournament, he played in three matches and scored a total of 22 runs.
5. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, was involved in a severe car accident on December 30, 2022, and is currently receiving medical treatment in Mumbai. As a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident, he will be unable to participate in this year’s IPL and is expected to take 4 to 5 months to recover.
6. Will Jacks

Will Jacks, who was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 3.2 crores in the IPL auction held in December, has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming edition of the tournament due to an injury he sustained while representing his country in Bangladesh. While fielding in England’s second ODI against Bangladesh, Jacks suffered a muscle injury.
7. Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka, the white-ball captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, chose to keep his base price relatively low at 50 lakh for the IPL auction. Despite being a useful all-rounder who can hit hard down the order and also bowl some useful medium-pace, he was not picked up by any IPL franchise.
8. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins, the current captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and ODI formats, has chosen not to participate in the upcoming 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a packed international schedule leading up to the ODI World Cup and the Ashes series.
9. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the spinner from Afghanistan who was once considered among the best T20 spinners in the world, has been unable to maintain his consistency in recent times, leading to him being overlooked and not purchased at this year’s auction.
10. Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc, the renowned Australian fast bowler, was conspicuously absent from the mini-auction, and he will not be participating in the upcoming IPL 2023 as he chose not to register himself for the auction.
11. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has not yet fully recovered from the injury that has prevented him from playing since September 2022. This absence is particularly damaging for the Mumbai Indians (MI) as Bumrah was expected to make a comeback for them in the upcoming IPL 2023. However, it appears that he is still not fit enough to participate.
