Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended a three-match losing streak on Wednesday, May 4, with a 13-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis blew starts, although Mahipal Lomror contributed with a useful knock, giving the team’s total some respectability.
Mahipal Lomror and Harshal Patel talk about RCB’s win

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Super Kings by 13 runs in IPL 2022 Match 49 at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Wednesday. CSK was reduced to 160 for eight in 20 overs while chasing a score of 174. Devon Conway scored the most runs for CSK with 56 runs, while Moeen Ali added 34 runs in rapid succession. Harshal Patel claimed three wickets for RCB, while Glenn Maxwell also took two.
Royal Challengers Bangalore found two-star performers in 22-year-old Mahipal Lomror with the bat and right-arm medium-pacer Harshal Patel (3 for 35) with the ball on a pitch where the spinners had a field day, picking up nine of the 14 wickets that fell to the bowlers (there were two run-outs).

After Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni opted to bowl, the left-handed Lomror hit a quickfire 42 off 27 balls with three fours and two sixes to propel RCB to a comfortable 173 for eight.
While the CSK spinners restricted the flow of runs in the middle overs, the left-hander from Rajasthan not only shared key partnerships with Rajat Patidar (44 for the fourth wicket) and Dinesh Karthik (31 for the fifth wicket) but also scored boundaries with ease against the CSK spinners.
He blasted Ravindra Jadeja straight for four and swept Maheesha Theekshana for six over midwicket, while also hitting quick Dwaine Pretorius over mid-off for four and adding a six over wide long-on. Lomror was bowled out by Theekshana in the 19th over, but by then he had scored enough runs for RCB to see them through.
In the post-match interview, Harshal Patel asked Mahipal Lomror about what his experience was playing against CSK and what has he learned from superstars in the team like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.
Lomror said that he was very excited to play against CSK and is very happy with the contribution he made. He also said that he has learned a lot from Kohli and other senior players and that they have been guiding him since the start of the season.
