Losing is something that the teams in the IPL despise. This is something that everyone wishes they didn’t have to deal with. The truth is that once a team begins to lose, its winning mindset takes a backseat.
Because consistency is so vital in such a tournament, it’s critical for players in the IPL to get to know their new colleagues and start working together. However, with international players flitting in and out of the country according to their teams’ schedules, several IPL franchises struggle to maintain a comfortable rhythm.
Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) – 11

DD received a makeover in December 2018 when they rebranded as the Delhi Capitals. But nobody can forget that they lost nine consecutive matches in 2014 and added two more in 2015 to top this unwanted record list. Their poor performance at the end of the 2014 season (which continued into the start of the 2015 season) propels them to the top of this infamous list. After losing nine consecutive games in 2014, the Daredevils lost their first two matches in 2015 as well, before strong displays from Mayank Agarwal and Yuvraj Singh secured them a win against the Kings XI Punjab after nearly 350 days without a win.
Pune Warriors India – 11

Pune Warriors India had a particularly bad run in the IPL in 2012 and 2013, earning them a share of the unwelcome record of Most Consecutive Losses in IPL history. Their losing streak began at the end of the 2012 season and went into the beginning of the following season. The squad managed to halt the fall for a brief period before starting on yet another losing streak shortly after.
Kolkata Knight Riders – 9

KKR is a good squad right now, but in 2009, the Purple and Gold army struggled to put up a fight against their opponents. The team’s loss of Pakistani stars like Salman Butt, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Akhtar, and even Umar Gul was the reason behind it. The South African conditions did not suit the younger members of the team, who continued to lose games and had a nine-match losing run.
Pune Warriors India – 9

Despite the fact that the Pune Warriors India were only in the IPL for a brief period, they did not have a good time. After ending a long losing streak from the previous season, the Pune club embarked on another downward spiral in the 2013 season, losing nine consecutive games. Despite having Yuvraj Singh in the lineup, they were unable to find a winning formula and hence have the dubious distinction of appearing twice on this list of the IPL’s longest losing streaks.
Delhi Daredevils – 8

Despite the fact that the Delhi franchise’s fortunes appeared to improve with the name change in 2019, the Delhi franchise has earned the moniker of “perennial underachievers.” Despite possessing the firepower of hometown favourite Virender Sehwag at the top and the bowling prowess of Morne Morkel, they lost 8 consecutive matches between the end of a poor 2012 season and the start of 2013 season before finally getting a win.
Mumbai Indians – 8*

The Mumbai Indians have had a poor start to the season, losing their first eight games in the IPL 2022. This is a team’s worst losing run from the start of a season. Prior to this, both the Delhi Daredevils (in 2013) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (in 2019) had a dismal record of six consecutive losses. Mumbai’s hopes have been harmed not only by an inexperienced bowling attack but also by an underperforming batting unit.
