Ishant Sharma’s recent poor form has been a hot topic of conversation recently. Despite the fact that he is India’s second-highest wicket-taker among pacers in Test cricket, he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations. The right-arm speedster has had his fair share of misfortunes in the ongoing two-match series against New Zealand.
He missed the Mumbai Test after dislocating his left little finger after going wicketless in the Kanpur Test. Ishant has been out of form since India’s tour to England earlier this year. Mohammed Siraj was brought into the starting eleven to take his position. The pacer, according to the fans and experts, should be allowed some rest.
Ishant Sharma Likely to be Dropped
Since the tour of England, Ishant form has been poor, and many say that the veteran of 105 Tests (311 wickets) should now be given a rest since Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami can’t all be kept out in games outside India when they’re all healthy.
Umesh Yadav had to sit out a lot of international Tests previously because he didn’t fit into a four-man pace attack, but on pure form, he is better than Ishant. If Ishant’s performance during the last few months is truly evaluated, he may not be selected, but one never knows what the permutations and combinations are at work. Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan are among the reserve pacers, and if India selects six pacers for Test matches, Ishant will be left out.
Ishant Sharma has played for Team India in 105 matches and has 311 wickets to his credit. The seasoned bowler has 11 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul to his credit. In 2014, he had his best bowling stats of 7/74 against England at Lord’s.
