IPL has been one of the most popular and cash-rich tournaments in the sporting world. It’s a tournament where teams bring out their best squads and fight for that prestigious title. This league consists of ten teams, and it is a tough competition between the best. But, some pointers might hinder the franchise’s chance to win the title. Here are those weak pointers of each team from the ongoing edition.
Chennai Super Kings
The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, haven’t had a fairytale start in the ongoing edition. The main reason would be their lack of depth in all the cricketing aspects like Batting, Bowling and Fielding. Also, the inexperience of Ravindra Jadeja as a captain would hinder their chances to lift their fifth IPL title. Also, the bowling attack should be having depth and the current squad seems to be lacking in it.
Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals is probably one of the most consistent IPL teams and has never disappointed the cricket fanatics with its performance. Though they have a core team, factors like lack of batting depth and mediocre bowling attack would make their title race tricky. Though Prithvi Shaw and David Warner might give a promising start, it is just Rishabh Pant who might seem the lone promising batter. Also, with the team parting ways with bowlers like Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin, the bowling department seemed to be a bit bleak.
Gujarat Titans
The new and budding team, Gujarat Titans, has been predominant for their first-three matches winning streak. During the auctions, the Titans did possess a commendable team with an element of new-young players. But, the batting department wasn’t up to the mark, and the team might not just rely on the batting star, Shubman Gill. Well, it is pivotal to have other batting backups in hand. Even though they have some power hitters like Hardik Pandya and Rahul Tewaitia, with David Miller, Vijay Shankar and other new batters, the middle-order seems a struggle for the Titans.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The two-time title winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, are predominantly known for their impeccable all-rounding attack. With the likes of Andre Rusell and Sunil Narine, it is in the team’s performance track record. But, with a weaker pace bowling attack and overdependency on Rusell’s muscular batting, this might be troublesome for the team’s path towards the title. Also, the team should work on having a stable opening pair that includes having Venkatesh Iyer.
Lucknow Supergiants
The five-time champions and the most successful IPL team, Mumbai Indians, are not having a heck of a start in the ongoing edition. Probably the main problem would be the underperformance of their reliable overseas players. Even their weak bowling attack acts as a barrier. Though the team is known for having an impeccable line-up of talented young players like Dewald Brewis and Tilak Verma, they must groom them for the challenges that the team would face.

Punjab Kings
Though Punjab Kings have acquired some wholesome T20 players to their squad, some factors might be a barrier. With a weaker lower-order batting department, the lack of an experienced Indian spinner and an out-of-form Kagiso Rabada might be the problems for the team. Also, with just a set-spinner of Rahul Chahar, the team might face a problem with a lack of options in spin-bowling.
Rajasthan Royals
Just like the Lucknow Supergiants, Rajasthan Royals have been commendable in the 2022 IPL auction. And there hasn’t been any significant weakness that would hinder their hopes to win the title. But except for not having a genuine and consistent all-rounder. Though they have Devdutt Padikkal as a young and budding opener, he must be consistent enough to contribute to the team with some crucial runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore happens to be such a team known for their exponential improvement for the past two seasons. And thanks to their current team, they seem promising for the 2022 title. But, an over-dependence on a top-notch spinner like Wanindu Hasaranga should be corrected, and they must have a backup and a reliable spinner.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Before the 2021 edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad was one of the most consistent teams by qualifying for the playoffs. But the current team of the Orange Army do have some drawbacks. Drawbacks like weak spin attack, decent yet inexperienced bowling attack and not a dependent top-order might be some problematic factors for the team. With young-blood players like Umran Malik, Abdul Samad, Priyam Garg and Marco Jansen, the team must groom them for the upcoming matches that the team would face.
