Virat Kohli will not be captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022 after he relinquished the position after the franchise’s campaign ended in IPL 2021.
Kohli, 33, was the captain of RCB from 2011 to 2021, though he became a permanent captain in the IPL in 2013. While the Bengaluru-based franchise performed admirably in several seasons under his leadership, the greatest of which was a participation in the IPL final in 2016, they remained trophy-less throughout Kohli’s decade-long tenure.
Finn Allen on Virat Kohli

Finn Allen, the New Zealand batsman is regarded as one of the game’s up-and-coming stars. RCB selected the 22-year-old in the just ended mega auction. The right hander’s starting price was INR 50 L, but he was purchased for INR 80 L.
Allen was asked what he would do first if he woke up as Virat Kohli. The middle-order batsman responded to the query in an intriguing way.
“I’d probably walk into the streets to see how it feels to have everyone chase after you,” he said.
This IPL season will be a learning experience for Finn Allen as he will get to spend time with some great names such as Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Dinesh Karthik. However, he is unlikely to be a part of Bangalore’s starting lineup in the first few games.

Meanwhile, Kohli posted a photo on social media with the caption: “IPL around the corner and the excitement is in the air.”

Kohli would strive to give his all in the next Indian Premier League season (IPL). With the captaincy responsibility lifted, he will try to score big and help his franchise go all the way this season. RCB are still looking for their first IPL trophy, and the franchise is hoping for a turnaround under Faf du Plessis’ guidance. The IPL 2022 season will begin on March 26, however, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin their campaign on March 27.
