On Sunday, April 30th, under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, the Punjab Kings achieved a thrilling last-ball win against the Chennai Super Kings, who are four-time champions. Although Sikandar Raza was responsible for hitting the winning runs, the crucial performance of Jitesh Sharma during the match played a significant role in the outcome.
While chasing a challenging target set by the home team, the Punjab Kings faced difficulties after Liam Livingstone was dismissed after a remarkable innings. Nonetheless, Jitesh Sharma, the young Indian batsman, turned the game around with an impressive cameo performance. He almost finished the game early, but he was dismissed in the second-to-last over of the match, having scored 21 runs off only ten deliveries.
Jitesh Sharma on Rohit Sharma

After the match, Jitesh talked about Rohit Sharma. He said that Rohit helped him a lot during his MI days.
“I idolize Rohit Sharma, it’s a dream to bat with him once, I can’t even describe how much he helped during MI days,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rahul Chahar praised Jitesh for his exceptional innings.
Chahar lauded the impressive batting performance of Punjab Kings, which helped them win the match in a thrilling final over. He also mentioned the confusion that arose before the last delivery of the game, stating that the Punjab-based team had planned to retire Shahrukh Khan, who was at the non-striker’s end, in favor of Harpreet Brar because of his quick running abilities.
“The way our batsmen are going, in every match we are scoring 200. So, it is a good sign for us especially Jitesh is in very good form. He is making the difference, like coming and hitting sixes on the first or second ball. I think it is very good. We were trying to send Brar in place of Shahrukh just like he can run faster. We have seen his sprints. Nothing else,” Chahar said.
