Virat Kohli, one of the most well-known cricketers, is the lone Indian to appear in the Forbes 2020 list of the world’s highest-paid sportsmen. Last year, he was placed 66th on the list, with earnings estimated to be over $26 million (around 194 crores). He also beat Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and MS Dhoni for the top place on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List in 2019.
Virat Kohli, the most followed Indian athlete on Instagram, has now been added to another coveted list: celebrities who earn the most money from sponsored Instagram posts.
Virat Kohli is one of the most socially engaged celebrities. For the Indian cricket skipper, it is more than just a way to communicate and share information. Social networking has also evolved into a lucrative business opportunity. When it comes to influencing a consumer’s purchasing decisions, social media is growing increasingly influential, and celebrities are frequently found to be the driving force behind it. That is why celebrities get paid a lot of money to be social media influencers.
Kohli’s Instagram Earnings
According to recent research, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli may earn up to Rs 2 crore for a sponsored Instagram post, while former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni can make around Rs 88 lakh per post.
The research looked at how much money Indian and foreign players made through sponsorships on their Instagram profiles during the Indian Premier League (IPL). It calculated who has the most valuable profile based on the advertising pricing on the social media site.
Kohli, who is also the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has a huge 80 million Instagram followers and could earn over £246,064 (Rs 2,33,33,894) for each sponsored post.
Despite Kohli’s fame and marketability, he ranks well below the world’s top athletes in terms of Instagram worth. Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese footballer, has about 300 million Instagram followers, which implies his sponsored posts are worth Rs 6 crore, while Lionel Messi of Argentina has valued at Rs 4 crore for each sponsored post.
