The fans will always remember the fourth Test match between India and Australia because of Virat Kohli‘s heroic century. Kohli’s century was especially remarkable because he hadn’t scored one in Test format for over three years. On the fourth day of the match, Kohli hit 186 runs off 364 balls, leading team India to a total score of 571 and giving them a 91-run lead over the home side. Besides Kohli, the credit for India’s strong performance in the fourth Test also goes to the 23-year-old Shubman Gill.
On Day 3, Gill scored his second Test century, giving India an impressive start. Gill’s performance met the expectations of both fans and selectors, as he had been brought in to replace the out-of-form KL Rahul. With India on the brink of qualifying for the World Test Championship final, veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik believes that Rahul could be considered for selection if he is willing to take on the role of wicketkeeper.
Dinesh Karthik on Shubman Gill

“I will see how Rahul feels because KL is not somebody who enjoys keeping in Test cricket because it is a completely different ball game. But I will definitely keep that in the back of my mind. It is an option that is very, very usable if KL is up for wicketkeeping,” Karthik said.
Karthik praised Gill for his exceptional performance in the fourth Test and expressed his belief that the young player has a bright future ahead of him. Karthik hopes to see Gill included in the playing XI for the World Test Championship final.

“I will definitely go with Shubman Gill, there’s no doubt about it. The man’s got a hundred in the last Test before the WTC final. You get the feeling that Shubman Gill is in for the long run. He is a long racehorse. He’s the one that you want to put your money on and say, ‘I want to see him in 2033 still there opening for India’,” Karthik added.
