Not long ago, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, shared his thoughts about the young player’s performances and was very impressed. It’s worth mentioning that Varma made a strong entrance in IPL 2022 while playing for Mumbai Indians, led by Sharma. He ended up being the second-highest run scorer for his team during that season, accumulating 397 runs.
Rohit Sharma on Tilak Varma

“He looks very promising. I have seen him for two years now, he has got the hunger, and that is the most important thing. In him I can see, for the age that he is of, he is quite matured. He knows his batting so well. When I speak with him I understand that the boy knows his batting – where he has to hit, what he has to do in that period,” Rohit said.
Rohit also mentioned that he’s not completely certain about his World Cup chances at the moment. However, he praised Tilak Varma for his impressive talent.
“That is all that I will say about him, I do not know about the World Cup and all, but definitely the guy is talented and he showed it in these few games that he has played for India,” he added.

Varma had the highest scores for India in the first two T20Is, scoring 39 (22) and 51 (41) in those matches. Additionally, he delivered an outstanding performance with an unbeaten 49 runs from 37 balls in the third T20I, playing a key role in keeping India’s hopes alive in the series.
