Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, expressed his opinion about the poor performance of Suryakumar Yadav in One Day International matches. It is worth mentioning that the Indian team was defeated by the Australian team by 21 runs in the final match of the series played at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, March 22.
During the pursuit of a target of 270 runs, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a third consecutive time in the series, without scoring any runs. Spinner Ashton Agar got him out in the 36th over of India’s innings. After the end of the series, Rohit Sharma expressed his view that Suryakumar’s dismissal was an “unfortunate” event, and recognized that the right-handed batsman was going through a rough patch in One Day Internationals.
Rohit Sharma on Suryakumar Yadav

“He only played three balls in three (games) this series. I don’t know how much to look into it. He got three good balls, to be honest. Today, it wasn’t that good ball; he should have gone forward. He knows best. He plays spin so well. We have seen that over the last couple of years,” Rohit said.
“That’s why we held him back and give him that role for the last 15-20 overs where he can play his game, but it’s really unfortunate he could only play three balls. That can happen to anyone. But the potential and ability is always there. He is just going through that phase right now,” he added.
Suryakumar Yadav has not been able to start performing well in One Day Internationals, which has raised doubts about his performances and his position in the team. By recording his third consecutive duck, Suryakumar has become part of an unfortunate group of batsmen who have suffered the same fate.

It is worth mentioning that Suryakumar is only the sixth Indian batsman to suffer three consecutive ducks in One Day International cricket. Other notable Indian cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah have also experienced this. In the meantime, Steve Smith and his team made a fantastic comeback to win the series 2-1 in Chennai.
