Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian opening batsman, served as the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League’s recently concluded season. He was instrumental in the team’s advancement to the playoffs. The left-handed batter has been in the news in recent days after making a controversial and negative statement about KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik’s selection in India’s T20 World Cup squad for 2022.
Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian batsman, took a dig at Gambhir for excluding in-form Dinesh Karthik from the main event. Given Karthik’s age, the LSG coach believes it will be difficult for him to make it to the Indian squad.
Gautam Gambhir picks India’s starting 11 for T20 World Cup 2022

Dinesh Karthik had a fantastic season for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, where he excelled as a designated finisher. He made such an impression on the Indian selectors that he was named in the squad for the series against South Africa.
In the second T20I, the right-hander demonstrated his ability by scoring a brilliant 30 runs to give India a late victory. When he was sent after Axar Patel, however, a few eyebrows were raised, and former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir was not convinced by the tactics either.
Gambhir, who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks, went on to say that India could have used a younger option instead of Dinesh Karthik in this series because he doesn’t think Karthik will keep his spot in the team once KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja return.

Gautam Gambhir went on to select India’s probable 11 for the T20 World Cup 2022. He backed the combination of five bowlers, two all-rounders, and four specialist bowlers. The Delhi-born cricketer stuck to his guns, leaving out KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik from his 11-man squad. Deepak Hoooda was chosen as the all-rounder, while Virat Kohli was demoted to No. 4.
