The IPL is over now, and all players are back to national duty. The Indian and South African players are among the first ones to begin their preparation for the next adventure, the famed T20 World Cup being held in Australia. The series, after the 5th match’s abandonment due to rain, was leveled at 2-2, so both the teams ended up lifting the trophy. Although we saw great contributions from all the players, one player stood out among the others – Dinesh Karthik.
The Indian maestro is back in the news after a long time. His amazing stint with the RCB was the primary reason of his sudden and explosive comeback. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman was remarkable, both with the bat and behind the stumps in this season. Dinesh Karthik‘s performance was so spectacular that it sealed his spot on the Indian squad against South Africa and Ireland. He didn’t disappoint against South Africa, scoring a quickfire 27-ball 55 against the Proteas in the fourth game at a time when India was in intense trouble, having lost half the team already at a low score. Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya stabled the ship, and fought valiantly to take the score to a respectable 169, post which, the bowlers did their job and India won the game and levelled the series.
Post the match, twitter went on fire as Dinesh Karthik and his splendid comeback became the talk of the town. Amidst this, an old Instagram conversation of Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma went viral. In the post, Dinesh Karthik was dressed in a suit, and below it, Rohit had commented that he thought DK still had a few years of cricket left in him, to which Karthik responded by saying “don’t ever doubt that sham”. The conversation is being talked about everywhere, as the current captain’s words are slowly proving to be true.
Dinesh Karthik will now be seen playing against Ireland starting on 26th June under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. He would hope to be in great form to be selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
