Pat Cummins of the Kolkata Knight Riders bowled brilliantly against the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 Match 56, picking up three wickets in one over on the same day Jasprit Bumrah took a five-for. Bumrah even concluded with a three-wicket maiden.
Ishan Kishan, Daniel Sams, and Murugan Ashwin were the three wickets taken by Cummins. This over, the 15th in the chase, significantly changed the game in KKR’s favor.
Simon Doull on Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins has left cricket fans speechless after an incredible game-winning over for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
On his return to the team, Australia’s Test skipper got three wickets in six balls, turning the match around and ensuring Kolkata’s triumph over the Mumbai Indians.
Former New Zealand international cricketer Simon Doull said that Pat Cummins was motivated to perform after being benched. He also added that Cummins despite being the world’s best in Test cricket, is not at the same level in T20 cricket yet but he has all the talent to succeed there. Doull said that with practice, Cummins will get there eventually.

Meanwhile, former Team Indian coach Ravi Shastri said that KKR was wrong in benching him after a couple of bad performances.
“Don’t know what they were trying to pull off by making Cummins sit on the bench. He was warming the bench. He is the World No 1 bowler, Australian captain and you are making him warm the bench,” Shastri said.
Cummins credited Jasprit Bumrah, saying he showed them how to bowl on the DY Patil pitch.
“Bumrah (Jasprit) bolwed very well. He showed us that the top of the stumps and back of a length was tough for the batters to hit. DY Patil is also a big ground and to be able to hit six you have to hit it sweetly,” Cummins said.
Cummins acknowledged that his bowling was inconsistent in the opening few games and that he learned from Southee while on the bench.

“I think I’ve played enough to not worry too much about the ups and downs, especially of T20 cricket. I looked at my first four games and was pretty honest that I didn’t bowl particularly well. The last few games on the bench have been a good chance to look at Tim Southee who has been bowling fantastically well, so learning off someone like him and when I got my chance again just trying to be that little bit more disciplined,” Cummins added.
