The athleticism on the cricket field has undergone phenomenal change. Cricketers are much more agile and put in phenomenal efforts in the field. The soft grass outfields have also helped fielders put in the dives. In the ongoing IPL as well, we have seen some stunning work in the field.
Fast bowlers are no longer liabilities in the field as they too are pulling off stunners. In earlier matches as well, bowlers have done great work in the deep. In the current match as well we saw some incredible work with two express fast bowlers. Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins combined forces to give a memorable catch.
Pat Cummins the superman
Rajasthan Royals were in complete cruise control as Jos the Boss had scored another century in this match. It was the second of the season by him. After 17 overs, Rajasthan was on 189 for a loss of 3 wickets. The KKR bowlers had been mightily thrashed by the Rajasthan batsmen. However, they pulled off something special through their fielding.
Riyan Parag was on strike and he was under pressure to justify his inclusion in the team. He has been under intense criticism from fans for his game. Parag tried to heave the first ball straight down the ground. Pat Cummins who was at long-off ran considerable and put in a dive in motion to hold on to the ball. As he realized that he would fall on the boundary rope, he released the ball and threw it up.
Shivam Mavi who had simultaneously run from long-on had made his ground and judged the ball well. He put in a small hop and caught the ball as Cummins had fallen on the boundary rope. The combined effort was startling and had the crowds on their feet. It also lifted the spirit of their teammates on the field. Twitter was also overjoyed with the effort and heaped praise on the two speedsters.
