KL Rahul of Lucknow Supergiants had his first duck in six years which came off the first ball, and it was a golden duck. Mohammed Shami’s ball pitched and drifted away, kissing KL Rahul’s bat and was easily caught by the wicketkeeper. The umpire initially ruled it not out, but the decision was appealed to the DRS, where the on-ground umpire appeared to be incorrect. KL was given marching orders after the ruling was reversed. Meanwhile, after 56 innings, it was his first IPL duck in six years.
KL Rahul was forced to bat first after Gujarat won the toss. He also disclosed that Lucknow will not be fielding four overseas players at the toss.
KL Rahul Gets Out For Golden Duck
The Gujarat Titans made an amazing start to the IPL 2022 as fast bowler Mohammed Shami bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul for a golden duck. Rahul, who had missed India’s recent limited-overs matches due to injury, appeared to have faced only one ball as he edged Shami to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade. Rahul has only had two ducks in his IPL career.

There was a big boom as soon as the ball past the bat, and Gujarat Titans raised a huge appeal as soon as it thudded onto the keeper’s gloves. Hardik Pandya questioned the call after umpire Virender Sharma declared it not out following a brief debate. The umpire had to change his ruling after seeing a decent spike as the ball passed the bat on playback. LSG were 0/1 after 0.1 overs when Rahul was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
Pandya won the toss in Match 4 of the IPL on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium and chose to bat.
“It’s the first game, we want to see how the wicket plays. Also, the dew is a factor. One thing which is very clear is we are going to give all the guys full freedom, play freely and enjoy. Lockie, Wade, Rashid, and Miller are our four overseas,” Pandya said.
