New and young talent coming off ranks from IPL is a staple. Over the years, numerous young talents have made their mark through scintillating IPL performances. A gem of a talent like Jasprit Bumrah also made his way through the IPL.
The SRH bowling department is one to envy. They have experienced pacers in the form of Bhuvi and Nattu. They have covered their overseas pace bowling requirement with the addition of the fantastic Marco Jansen. Their youngster’s quota boasts of names like Karthik Tyagi and Umran Malik. Both of them are famous for their bullet-like pace and rattle the opposition with sheer brutality.
Umran Malik comes into his own
In the ongoing match where SRH has taken on KKR, Umran Malik proved why the team has stuck with him. He was aggressive, fast, and right on the money. He ended his 4 overs with exceptional figures of 2 for 27 with an economy of 6.80 which is worth gold in a T20 match.
The magic moment of the match was the duel between Malik and KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer. In the 10th over, Malik was bowling fantastically to Iyer and left his guessing. he bowled fast and into the body for a couple of balls. Then a fast wide bouncer. He then followed it with an absolute toe-crushing yorker on the last ball. With the previous few balls, Iyer was not expecting that yorker. Umran’s ball completely deceived Iyer and he was sent back to the dug-out.
Dale Steyn jubilant with Umran’s performance
The wicket did not just make Umran happy but also his bowling coach and fast bowling legend, Dale Steyn. The reaction of Steyn in the dug-out was a sight to behold. He jumped up in joy and could not control his excitement. He went and celebrated profusely with Muttiah Muralitharan. It was evident why Umran’s performance meant so much to Steyn as he has been working closely with the youngster and possibly sees’ a younger self in him.
