Ambati Rayudu, the veteran batter for the Chennai Super Kings, has once again made headlines for his social media activity. The 36-year-old deleted the tweet minutes after announcing his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the end of the current season, leaving netizens bewildered.
Rayudu, who debuted in the IPL in 2010, has been a consistent performer, and his statistics speak for themselves. The batsman from Andhra Pradesh has been a captain’s dream because he can bat anywhere in order. Rayudu has accepted all challenges and tormented the best of bowlers, whether it was anchoring the innings early on or playing big strokes towards the finish. He has also played for the Mumbai Indians, with whom he won three trophies.
Ambati Rayudu announces retirement from IPL, deletes tweet later
In a tweet on Saturday, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 36-year-old later deleted the tweet after thanking the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in his statement. Over the course of his long IPL career, Rayudu has been a key member of title-winning squads at MI and CSK.
“I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey,” Rayudu tweeted.
The former Indian batter’s actions were not taken lightly, as Twitter slammed his irresponsible behavior.
Rayudu has scored 4187 runs in 187 games, with an average and strike rate of close to 30 and 130, respectively. His IPL success gained him a spot in the national squad, and he performed admirably in international competitions as well. While Rayudu retired from international cricket in 2019, he remained a powerful force in the Indian Premier League.
