T20 cricket today is as entertaining as it gets. Fans throng the stadium and matches are dynamic and fast-paced. The nature of the game has also changed because nowadays players are playing with far more freedom. Batting has become much more carefree and creative. Bowlers are having newer tricks up their sleeves and fielders are pulling off unbelievable stuff on the field.
All in all, T20 cricket has revolutionized the way the sport has otherwise been played. One thing that has undergone sea change is the way cricketers field. Catches are being plucked out of nowhere and fielders are single-handedly winning matches for the teams. Boundaries are being curtailed to 2s. All of this has made the game far more entertaining.
Rovman Powell shows off his soccer skills
Fielders in the deep put in their everything to protect even a single run because of how fine the margins are in T20 cricket. Rovman Powell, the burly West Indian put in a similar effort at long-on in yesterday’s encounter against Rajasthan Royals. After 18 overs, the Royals were cruising at 200 for 2 with Jos Butler bringing on his 3rd century of the season. He was in blistering form and it was essential that every run be stopped to give Delhi some fighting chance.
On the 4th ball of the 19th over, Mustafizur Rehman bowled a low full-toss which Butler clubbed hard down the ground. David Warner and Rovman Powell were stationed at mid-on and mid-off. Both ran to cut the ball off from the boundary but were at an awkward distance from the ball to put in a full-length dive. Powell, exercising his quick thinking, extended his right leg and went into a semi-split to cut the ball off with his leg. The ball stopped and Powell tumbled over the ball. David Warner who was running in from the end had had to jump over him.

Powell quickly got off and released the ball and thereby saving his team 2 critical runs. For his splendid effort, he was compared to the football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. These types of efforts lift the entire energy of the team on the field.
