International tournaments are back on board, with the bilateral T20 series being the choice of the town. After the IPL, all international teams and players are waiting and preparing for the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2022 hosted by Australia. The World Cup will be preceded by the Asia Cup, which will be held around the end of August and the beginning of September. The much-awaited excitement is for the match between old rivals India and Pakistan. The two teams have engaged with each other in fierce battles of skill and technique. The last time the two faced each other off was in the T20 World Cup of 2021, where Pakistan was able to convincingly defeat India by 10 wickets. This time around, many are of the opinion that India will make a fierce comeback. Legendary Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif doesn’t share their opinions though.
Rashid Latif has made it very clear that although he believes that India is a strong team that is making a very good recovery, it will be Pakistan who will get down to the field as the favorites to win the match, and quite possibly the tournament. Rashid Latif was of the opinion that the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan made Pakistan’s case much stronger than that of their Indian counterparts. The ex-player also talked about how the current playing style of the Pakistani team is incredible and if they continue playing the same way, there is a very high chance of them becoming the Asian Cup champions, and if they were to capitalize on their form, they would probably go on to win the T20 World Cup as well.
The two teams have had a rivalry equivalent to the Ashes rivalry between Australia and England. Because of the border and international tensions, India and Pakistan have been unable to face off each other in a bilateral series for quite some time. The only chance fans have of seeing the old favorites clash is during events and competitions organized by the ICC, which makes the upcoming matches much more interesting and worth looking forward to.
