The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to suffer a major setback as Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 competition due to a hip injury.
Cummins only played five games for Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL season, but it was enough time for him to score the tournament’s joint-fastest fifty. He also took seven wickets, including three for 22 in his most recent game against the Mumbai Indians.
Pat Cummins leaves IPL 2022 with a hip injury

Due to a hip injury, Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. As a result, the Australian Test skipper has left his bio-bubble and is on his way to Sydney. Meanwhile, Cummins’ injury isn’t too significant, and he’ll be back to full strength in a few weeks.
His physical troubles are unlikely to derail the national team’s ambitions since the talismanic fast bowler has been rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka next month. He is expected to travel to Sri Lanka for the ODI and Test series.
However, his dismissal could jeopardize KKR’s hopes of making the playoffs. Cummins made a spectacular return to the KKR line-up recently, snagging a match-winning three-wicket haul after warming the benches for a few games.
After scoring his third IPl fifty in just 14 balls, the Australian pacer joined Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul as the joint-fastest fifty-scorer in IPL history.

Cummins, on the other hand, failed to make any significant contributions with the bat apart from his whirlwind knock against MI.
KKR has had a difficult time in the competition, as they are now in seventh place with five wins in 12 games. They had a slim chance of making the playoffs, and Cummins’ departure has made it even slimmer.
KKR must now win their last two games by large margins while also relying on the outcome of other matches. KKR will rely on Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, and Tim Southee to handle the pace-bowling department now that Cummins is no longer in the picture.
