This year, it seemed as if franchises realized his worth as a indispensable Indian middle order batsman and a bidding war ensued. He was finally picked up by SRH for a fantastic INR 8.50 crores. Tripathi has repaid the trust in full and impressed thoroughly so far. He has played the role of an anchor, aggressor and dominator wonderfully with the bat. However, he also bring in super energy on the field as well. His efforts on the field uplift the entire mood of the team and inspire others to do well.
Tripathi’s brilliance on field
In yesterday’s match against Gujarat Titans, Tripathi again gave a timely reminder as to why he can be a complete match-winner even while fielding. In just the 3rd over of the match, Tripathi took a fantastic catch out of nowhere. The in-form Shubman Gill was on strike who has been in sublime form and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bowling. In the second ball of the over, Gill played a fantastic drive through the covers. It was timed perfectly but slightly elevated. Tripathi who was fielding at covers, put in a full length dive to his left and pulled off a one hand screamer.
The piece of fielding left everyone on the ground spellbound. He had managed to send one of Gujarat’s danger man back in the pavilion. This was one of those catches’ where the wicket belonged more to the fielder than to the bowler. In T20 cricket, early wickets make a massive difference and Tripathi had succeeded in providing his team with just that.

Fans could not keep calm after seeing Tripathi’s effort and heaped praise on his brilliance. They also said that this was SRH’s best investment in this IPL. The fans were glad that SRH was able to send Gill back with minimum damage caused.
