It’s well into the 2022 season of IPL and we are into the 17th game of the season. Chennai Super Kings take on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the teams have had a very cold IPL up until now where they have lost games and not put up an inspiring performance.
CSK’s new captain, Ravindra Jadeja, would be wanting to change the team and his fortunes and get a win under their belt. The challenge from SRH will also not be easy. Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl. SRH got off to a flying start as the openers were quickly sent back to the dug-out.
Natarajan shows that he still has it in him
Nattu had made waves in the 2020 season of IPL but has been on the sidelines ever since due to injury. However, very few bowlers can match him in the shortest format. In today’s match as well, he gave a glimpse of why he is rated so highly.
In the 6th over, he was bowling to Gaikwad. His ability to bowl near-perfect yorker ball after ball was on full display. In the first ball of the over, he bowled right at Gaikwad’s toes and before Gaikwad could respond, his bails were dislodged.
This is one of Nattu’s biggest strengths, i.e. picking up wickets with the new ball. We all know what can happen if Gaikwad would get set and hence, an early breakthrough was paramount. Gaikwad has had a slump in form and would have wanted to get his eye in and put up a big score. However, Natarajan ensured that none of those plans materialized.
A complete bowling performance from SRH
The fantastic bowling from Washington Sundar and Natarajan and early wickets up the order ensured that Chennai Super Kings could never fully recover and put up a monumental total. The bowling unit was successful in restricting the champion team to just 154. Now it is up to the batsmen to do justice to the team and win the game.
