On April 10, the Kolkata Knight Riders faced the Delhi Capitals in Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. Both sides entered the match on the heels of diametrically opposed outcomes. While KKR defeated the Mumbai Indians by five wickets, Delhi lost by six wickets against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Meanwhile, two of their crucial players, captain Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Shardul Thakur, engaged in some amusing banter in classic Mumbai fashion. Both of them began their cricket careers in Mumbai and are familiar with one another’s tactics.
Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur square off in Mumbai fashion.
In the most recent video shared by KKR on their official Twitter account, both Iyer and Thakur lavished praises on one another before laying out their case for the fight.
“Ek aur sample dekhne ke liye aaj Brabourne me, tu ready ho jaa. Shreyas Iyer said, “Tujhe toh mera record pata hi hain waha ka.”
“Mumbai se hain toh saana ban raha hai kya?” Shardul Thakur asked, “Pata hain na tereko kitne edges nikale hain nets me tera?”
“Milte hain phir aaj maidan par,” Iyer said to which Thakur replied “Haa aa jaa phir,”.
Iyer said, “Kisliye rukha hai tu?”
The KKR captain will be trying to make a statement against KKR. Shreyas Iyer has scored 69 runs in his previous four outings, averaging 23 at a strike rate of 138. He has not yet reached the half-century mark. Shardul Thakur, on the other hand, will be eager to re-establish his rhythm with the bat and the ball.
He has scored 24 runs in three games, averaging 12 and striking out at a rate of 150. The Palghar cricketer has taken only one wicket in three appearances at an economy of 10.11. In terms of the on-field match, the Kolkata Knights Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first.
