The IPL season has crossed the half stage mark. The points table looks cluttered with too many teams positioned at the same number of points. Therefore, it becomes imperative that a team capitalizes on every game.
The match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday was hotly contested game. Both teams had won 4 games and whoever won this one would go into the top 2 with double-digit points.
Faf shows why he is still the boss
Questions were starting to be raised on Faf’s batting prowess and whether it was for RCB to pick Faf as the captain. However, Faf ensured that his innings against LSG silenced all critics. After RCB lost Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli in the first over itself, Faf decided to rebuild. He brought up his 50 in style and then went onto plunder LSG at the death. He got out 2 balls before the end of the innings with a spectacular 96 off 64 balls.
Due to this superhuman effort, RCB put a mammoth 181 on the board. Shorter cameos were played by Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed. Ahmed has ensured that he becomes the batting lynchpin for RCB and bails out the team from critical positions.
Its a Josh Hazlewood show
As they began to defend the target, RCB were aware how dangerous the LSG openers could be. But, they managed to send back Quinny and Rahul back into the dug-out with minimum damage. Hazlewood was incisive with his bowling as heΒ got Quinton and then ran through the lower-middle order by picking up the young and promising Ayush Bodani, big-hitting Marcus Stoinis. He ended with figures of 4 wickets for 25. In such a crunch match, these figures were worth gold.
RCB convincingly beat LSG by 18 runs and the passionate RCB fan could not keep their cool on Twitter. They were pumped by the overall performance of the seniors as well as the youngsters. 5 wins in the first 7 games is a fantastic start for RCB and the fans hope that it only gets better from here.
