KL Rahul is currently regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. He is consistent across all formats and is an invaluable part of the Indian national team. Rahul’s unfortunate groin injury will keep him out of the entire England tour. Former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar has called it a big setback for the Indian team.
At the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham starting on July 1, 2022, The men in blue will play England in a single Test match. The team will continue its tour with three ODIs and three T20Is after that test.
Sanjay Manjrekar: The absence of KL Rahul will hurt India on England tour

Throughout the entire English tour, India will be without the services of KL Rahul as confirmed by BCCI on June 16. Due to a groin injury, KL Rahul will miss the series and will receive additional care in Germany. Injuries prevented Rahul from serving as the Indian team’s captain for the five-match T20I series against South Africa.
With 315 runs in four Tests at a 39.38 average, Rahul is the third-highest run-scorer in the India-England 2021 Test series. He was also named to the Lord’s Honour Boards for his 129 in the second Test. After Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal were unable to play in the Test series due to injuries, he paired Rohit Sharma in the opening position.
Sanjay Manjrekar has stated that KL Rahul’s absence from the Indian team’s tour of England will be a major setback.

“It was just the remarkable effort of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma at the top that saw India put up good enough scores to get the bowling make a match out of it and get that scoreline 2-1. This time around, with Rahul missing out, it’s a massive setback for India. But there is hope in selection of Shreyas Iyer, if he gets a game, and hopefully Hanuma Vihari figures as well; Cheteshwar Pujara is making a comeback. India have resources to fill the void,” Manrekar said.
“Whatever the team composition is planned out, they will always be looking to address the batting issues; and with KL Rahul missing being a huge blow for India, if you look at the top five or six, you are sort of worried about the batting,as you don’t have a situation where you have a number three, four, five all in great form,” he added.
