The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced on Saturday, March 19, that the Asia Cup 2022 will be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11, 2022, in T20 format.
The Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup, which began in 1983, is a men’s One Day International and T20 International cricket competition for Asian teams. The Asia Cup was first held in the United Arab Emirates in 1984, with India becoming victorious.

Later this year, between August 27 and September 11, the Asian Cup 2022 will be contested in Sri Lanka. T20 format will be used during the competition.
The Asia Cup event is held every two years, however, due to Covid-19 and its restrictions, the game’s controlling body, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), decided to postpone the 2020 edition. The Council then considered the June 2021 window for the tournament, which was to be held in Sri Lanka, but the pandemic once again thwarted the organizers.
The 2022 event will feature all five Test teams: Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The Asia Cup, which rotates between ODI and T20I forms, was last held in 2018, with India winning the tournament. The pandemic, on the other hand, prompted the 2020 edition to be postponed. Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup, which was initially scheduled to take place in 2022.

The UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong will be the tournament’s sixth team, with each team winning a spot in the qualifier by finishing first or second in the ACC regional events in 2020.
This Cup will be the 15th in the series, which began in Sharjah in 1984. India, the defending champion, has won the tournament seven times, including the lone T20I version in 2016. Sri Lanka has five times won the competition.
Meanwhile, the Indian players are preparing for the Indian Premier League’s upcoming season. The IPL 2022 season begins on March 26 with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tournament’s first match.
