Yuzvendra Chahal is enjoying his time with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) after 8 years with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He leads the Purple Cap table with 24 wickets, although his eyes have been on the Orange Cap throughout the tournament.
Chahal has been baiting England batter Jos Buttler to start the batting alongside him, who is the tournament’s leading run-scorer (627 runs), and the leg-spinner and the franchise have tweeted recordings of him mocking the England batter.
Yuzvendra Chahal Says He Can Even Break Virat Kohli’s Record

Yuzvendra Chahal joked in a recent video interview that if he had opened the batting alongside Buttler, he would have broken Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs in a single season.

Chahal stated that if he had been given the opportunity to open, he would have surpassed Buttler’s tally of 627 runs in 13 games in IPL 2022 thus far, as well as Virat Kohli’s record of most runs in a season. He joked that if he hits a century in every game while opening, he will break Kohli’s record in just ten games.
“If I had a chance to open – Then I would have broken every record, not just Jos Buttler. I think even Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record [973 runs] is left for me only. I’m going to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches only because in every match I have to score a hundred, no? (laughs),” Chahal said.

Buttler was on the verge of threatening Kohli’s IPL 2016 run-scoring record of 566 runs in just nine games, but with just 61 runs in the last four games, 973 seems like a stretch, as it remains an incredible year of run-scoring by the former RCB captain.
Buttler currently has 627 runs, his greatest total in an IPL season, and the destructive England batsman will want to add some more runs as RR is expected to proceed to the playoffs and recover his run-scoring form from the first half.
