When two athletic players bat on the crease, it is uncommon for one of them to be run out attempting to steal a single. Glenn Maxwell was run out in one such incident during a game between Bangalore and Chennai when he got involved in a mix-up with Virat Kohli in the first innings.
After losing their previous three IPL 2022 matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore fell behind early against Chennai Super Kings. After winning the toss, CSK elected to bowl first, and the opening duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got RCB off to a fantastic start, but they lost three wickets in the process, leaving the score at 79.
Glenn Maxwell appeared to be in terrific form, but he was forced to return to the pavilion following an unfortunate run-out. Ravindra Jadeja bowled the innings’ ninth over, and Virat Kohli was on strike for the final ball. Kohli gently pushed it and sought to steal a single with Glenn Maxwell, who was on the other end.
Both batters had a brief halt in the middle, and Maxwell was left stranded at the crease by a throw from Uthappa. As usual, Dhoni calmly received the throw and shattered the stumps, sending Maxwell back to the pavilion. Here’s a video of the incident :

RCB finished with a total of 173, with Mahipal Lomror scoring 42. Additionally, Bangalore’s leading scorers include Faf, Kohli, and Karthik, who scored 38, 30, and 26 runs, respectively. Mahesh Theekshana bowled the 19th over for Chennai, conceding only two runs and taking three wickets. Mahipal Lomror, Hasaranga, and Shahbaz Ahmad were all dismissed by Theekshana. Moeen Ali and Pretorius captured two and one wicket respectively. Chennai made a strong start with the bat, as they battled their way through the powerplay without losing a wicket. However, shortly after the powerplay, Shahbaaz dismissed Gaikwad.
