RCB Defeat LSG To Cement Spot In IPL 2022 Qualifier 2

The Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs to qualify for the IPL 2022 Qualifier 2, where they will face the Rajasthan Royals. KL Rahul (79) and Deepak Hooda (45) kept Lucknow’s hopes alive in a 208-run chase, but they may have accelerated too late and left too much for their finishers, as LSG fell short by 14 runs.
In the final two overs of the game, Harshal Patel (1/25) and Josh Hazlewood (3/43) were outstanding, while Wanindu Hasaranga (1/42) took the crucial wicket of Hooda. Rajat Patidar had earlier scored an unbeaten century (112* off 55 balls) to help RCB reach 207/4.
KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis arrived on the pitch after a nearly hour delay due to rain, as Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Jason Holder and Krishnappa Gowtham were replaced by Krunal Pandya and Dushmantha Chameera, respectively, in LSG’s starting XI. RCB, on the other hand, only made one change to their starting lineup, with Mohammed Siraj replacing Siddharth Kaul.
Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan struck first for LSG in the first over, dismissing RCB captain Faf du Plessis for a golden duck on the fifth ball of the over.

Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli batted brilliantly after losing the captain’s wicket, and RCB was 52/1 at the end of the powerplay, with Patidar on 33 and Kohli on 18.
Glenn Maxwell, the explosive batter, scored only 9 runs before being dismissed by Krunal Pandya in the 11th over. Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Mahipal Lomror for 14 in the 14th over after the strategic timeout.
Finally, Rajat Patidar smashed an outstanding century and Dinesh Karthik played a superb inning to help RCB reach 207/4.
KL Rahul scored 79 runs off 28 balls, including three fours and five sixes, before being dismissed in Josh Hazlewood’s 19th over. Krunal Pandya was also dismissed in the same over. Evin Lewis struggled as well, and the Lucknow Super Giants were held to a score of 193/6.

It’s quite insane how many runs Hasaranga saved tonight just by his fielding alone! Fielding made all the difference between the 2 teams! #RCBvLSG #LSGvRCB
