We tend to attach certain characteristics with some players. Therefore, King Kohli is known as “Mr. Dependable” in run-chases, ABD is known to be a monster in the death overs and Jasprit Bumrah is known to break partnerships. In the same way MS Dhoni is known to be the safest pair of hands behind the wicket.
He has done all sorts of unbelievable things behind the wickets. From having pulled off no-look run-outs to milli-second run-outs, he can do no wrong. The Dhoni fans blindly trust him to do the job behind the stumps. However, today they were in for a rude shock.
MSD makes a mess of a sitter
Chennai Super Kings got their Thala back as the captain and it seemed s if the CSK campaign may just have been reignited. However, Dhoni did the unthinkable. It is a must win game for CSK against SRH, to keep any hopes alive in this season. Therefore, every small thing counts. Jaddu was bowling the 7th over and Rahul Tripathi was out for a duck before this. CSK had a chance to make it 3 wickets in quick succession.
Jaddu bowled a ball spinning outwards and Williamson went to poke it. The ball caught the edge of the bat and it was a simple straight forward catch for MS Dhoni. Any other time, Dhoni would have caught it with his eyes closed. However, this time it fished out off his house.
No one on the pitch could believe how Dhoni had missed it. Jaddu had his hands in his head while Dhoni himself seemed stunned. Williamson got a lucky reprieve.

CSK fans left shocked
On Twitter, Dhoni fans couldnt fathom their best player had dropped a sitter. Some decided to take solace by tweeting memes while the others made their displeasure known. It was understandable why the fans were upset since “catches win matches”. In such crucial games, everything should be held.
