The Indian Premier League’s 15th season has already seen action-packed and exciting matches in Mumbai. So far, 38 games have been completed. Gujarat Titans are the only team that has been consistent throughout the season. Hardik Pandya and Co have lost only one game and won six so far this season. They now sit atop the table with 12 points. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have all been in excellent form recently.
Meanwhile, former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has made a daring prediction regarding the playoff teams. He made his forecast during an exchange with ESPNCricinfo. The battle between the teams is becoming more fierce. It is unknown which clubs will qualify for the playoffs this season. The only team that has yet to win a game is the Mumbai Indians.
Vettori believes the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans will qualify for the playoffs. Apart from that, he chose Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants. Surprisingly, he omitted the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, which is on a roll despite two poor performances. SRH failed their first two games but quickly rebounded to win five in a row.
With five victories and three losses, Lucknow Super Giants sit fourth in the rankings. Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, find themselves in a similar situation to LSG but are ranked fifth owing to their NRR. The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are yet to win a game this season. They established an unfavorable record earlier this season when they became the first club to lose their first seven games in a row.
Things took a turn for the worse when they lost eight consecutive games. Vettori offers some guidance to Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma. He desires Rohit bats lower in the order. “Potentially, we’ve seen players down at three or four in the past, and it may simply free him up by removing him from a job he’s become used to. I believe that with Rohit Sharma opening for India and serving as captain, it’s difficult to drop down the order in these scenarios,” Vettori said. Rajasthan Royals seem to be a very different squad under Sanju Samson’s leadership. They are now third on the standings with five victories and two losses. SRH, on the other side, is ranked second.
